Picture

Joseph Clemotte

Beginning lessons at age 6, Joseph has filled homes and halls with the rich sound of his lever harp for 12 years. Attaining Royal Conservatory of Music Level 9, Joseph is grateful to Miya Otake for her years of invaluable instruction, and most especially to his mother, for her many hours of devoted guidance through the foundational early years of musical training, and to his father, for his continued encouragement and exposure to varied styles.

The harp has long been considered quiet and uncommon, its music readily arpeggiated and mysterious, its iconic stature majestic and grand. Yet in the classical harp’s lever action counterpart is contained a powerful simplicity, a closeness to the strings, a closeness to the very sound of the harp. It is in this simple intimacy that Joseph has discovered the quietly known, projecting and vastly able resonance of his instrument. Ever discovering the joy of filling ears and minds with music, Joseph is delighted to perform Handel’s Concerto for Harp, Strings and Basso Continuo and invites you to an experience of the fullness and joy of the music of the harp.
