Barry Leung
​Barry Leung began his musical journey in Langley, BC, as a violinist under the tutelage of Heilwig Von Koenigsloew at the Langley Community School of Music. Barry eventually pursued music at the post-secondary level earning his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Victoria (UVIC). During his studies at UVIC, Barry was intrigued with the deep and vibrant register of the viola, which led him towards a Master of Music at UVIC. Since then, Barry regularly performs with chamber ensembles and orchestras across Vancouver Island including: the award-winning Cascadia Strings, Vancouver Island Orchestra, Gilbert & Sullivan Society, Sidney Classical Orchestra, and Victoria Operatic Society. Additionally, Barry toured Europe with Juno nominated saxophonist Kent Sangster and the Obsessions Octet, and accompanied Canadian Tenor, Ken Lavigne on his Northern BC tour. Barry has also participated in numerous music festivals including Orchestra de la Francophone, Banff Arts Festival and PRISMA. On the side Barry enjoys an active lifestyle, which includes hiking Nanaimo’s plethora of trails, road cycling, and a good game of basketball!
